General Information About Lee Academy

Parents wishing to enroll their child in Lee Academy are asked to complete an application form and return it to the school along with a copy of a past report card (if applicable). Upon receipt of an application form, an interview and assessment will be scheduled with the teacher and director. Admission to Lee Academy is based on the interview and assessment, as well as space availability. For more information on the enrolment process and tuition fees, please see our Registration page.

All students are required to wear the school uniform. We want the children to develop a sense of pride in their school as well as themselves. Further information is provided with our fee schedule.
A fee is charged at the beginning of each school year to cover the cost of textbooks and materials, all of which Lee Academy will provide. This fee includes the use of school laptop computers as part of the students’ programme.
At our South Campus in Lynden, the school day starts at 8:30 a.m. and finishes at 3:30 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:10 a.m. Buses leave the school at the end of the school day, 3:40 p.m., while students are met by parents from 3:40 to 3:50 p.m.

At our North Campus in Sheffield, the school day starts at 8:45 a.m. and finishes at 3:45 p.m. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:25 a.m. At the end of the school day, parents may pick their children up from 3:45 to 4:00 p.m.

Lee Academy South Campus operates a bus programme to accommodate our principal geographical draw areas. This is only in the Dundas, Copetown and Ancaster areas currently. Information on the programme and its fees is provided on request. There are no transportation fees for those parents who choose to provide their own transportation for their children. Busing is not offered at our North Campus.

School holidays generally coincide with public school holidays. They usually occur at the following times during the school year: two to three weeks at Christmas and two weeks in March, beginning the second week of March. The school is closed on Thanksgiving, Easter Monday, and Victoria Day. A listing of school holidays is available well in advance of the upcoming academic year. The current year’s calendar is available on our website.

No child may leave the property without parental permission. To ensure a safe, comfortable environment at Lee Academy, access to the building during the day is via the main entrance only. Visitors are asked to identify themselves at reception and wear a visitor’s tag while in the school.
Each child must attend school in good health. All children must be immunized according to the Ontario Ministry of Health regulations.
Lee Academy is nondenominational.
Parents are requested to notify the school if their child is absent on a given day. A note in the child’s daily agenda or a phone call from a parent/guardian excuses a student from class. Absences can also be logged on Edsby. Families wishing to extend their vacations or have their child absent for a long period of time are asked to discuss their plans first with the teacher in charge of their child’s programme.
At Lee Academy we believe that it is essential to be involved in and supportive of your child’s education. There are many opportunities throughout the year to visit the school, meet the teachers and watch your child perform. Parents are encouraged to accompany us on class trips. We welcome parental suggestions. Parents wishing to observe or help in the classroom are welcome at any time. All regular volunteers must submit a police record check and sign in and out at our front reception.
